The “Relatively Permanent” part of the definition refers to the fact that when people learn anything, some part of their brain is physically changed to record what they have learned. (Farmer et., 2013; Loftus & Loftus, 1980). This is actually a process of memory, for without the ability to remember what happens people cannot learn anything. It is thought that once a person learns something it is present somewhere in their brain in physical form even if they cant get to it. As for the inclusion of experience or practice in the definition of learning this is seen in the fact that if we do something and have a negative experience such as pain we are likely not to do it again where as if we have a positive outcome after doing something we are more likely to do it again. Other changes in the brain are caused by growing. This is controlled by our genetic blueprint. This is called maturation. There are different types of learners. We have visual learners who remember what they read and see. Visual learners remember 75% of what they see. This makes tools like the black board, charts, diagrams, & grafts
People learn in various ways and at different rates, some learn much from reading and could be considered a visual learner whilst others find it difficult to get anything from reading and prefer to listen, possibly to others explaining, an auditory learner or perhaps they learn from doing practically and could be regarded as kinetic learners, but whichever way we prefer to learn to be effective the learning cycle must be fully completed. We go through an experience, think about what happened, reach some conclusions and put them into practice.

Recognizing the different learning processes is a vital step in understanding how others learn around you. Whether you realize it or not, there are many different learning processes occurring around you at this very moment. From classical conditioning learning to latent learning, all learning processes will help you adapt to a new situation, or help further your knowledge in a familiar situation. I have experienced several instances of classical conditioning learning, operant conditioning learning, observational learning, and latent learning throughout my lifetime. Studying these learning processes have opened my mind about how others around me will often learn on a daily basis, helping me better understand others ways of learning.

There are multiple styles of learning, visual happens to be the best way I learn. Studies shows that sixty-five percent of the population consists of visual learners. I am a part of that sixty-five percent of visual learners.
Long before we are institutionalized, regimented and equipped with number two pencils and colored neat-books; we learn by falling into mud puddles and catching tadpoles. We find grass is green and sprouts between our toes and tickles the bottom of our feet with whispered softness. We sport kool-aid mustaches and know the purple kind is the best. We catch butterflies and learn their wings are as soft as the petals of the most exquisite flower. We learned through interaction using all our senses: touch, sight, smell, hearing and by experimenting. Though we had authority figures in our life that took care of our physical needs and stimulated our learning; we were basically free to explore and learn by watching.
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore.
