W. Johnson and T. Johnson informs, “The first is that by teaching students the skills, competencies, conceptual understandings, attitudes, and values necessary to resolve conflicts constructively, a safe and productive learning climate will be created.” Once students have mastered the competencies and attitudes they need to resolve conflicts, they will then have to face their own conflicts rather than avoid them. Through this process there will be both immediate and long-term goals. There has been variety of conflict resolution and peer mediation training programs. These programs could a social science theory or an atheoretical. Conflict resolution programs are being put into schools. This program is to teach students a variety of social skills. The atheoretical strategy is helpful in the short run, but it is not widely adopted. Teachers have been brainstorming the skill that students will need to manage conflicts. This program has not yet been evaluated, but it has spread to several countries. Teachers have to provide the necessary practice of skills to their students.
Understand and identify personal triggers that lead to conflict. Become conscious of their nonproductive approaches to conflict and the alternatives they have in dealing with certain situations. Learn skills in communication, negotiating, mediation, avoiding violence and managing stress and emotions.
Evaluation is vital to education, whether it is a new reform or a back to basics approach. STEM education remains open to interpretation. Drew states that the quality and efficacy of programs across the United States require quantitative and qualitative evaluations (2011). These studies should include the long-term benefits of grant funding and best practices for sustaining effective STEM programs when the grants and funds from corporate sponsors terminate (Johnson, 2014). Ultimately, the evaluation and research requires dissemination to schools across the country in order to affect the necessary reforms.
STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math was started last year in this school. In STEM you get to learn about all these topics by testing experiments and researching. STEM helps everyone learn for the future and helps them become innovators, leaders, educators, and researchers.

The reauthorization of ESEA, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) renewed the nation’s commitment to equal opportunity for all students. The revision in ESSA included STEM education and professional development, but not to the extent originally proposed in the ECAA. In the future, some practical applications that can be developed could be more parent education, an added school curriculum and more time spent teaching children how to solve the problem themselves. Not every parent knows how to teach children because they are still learning how to be a parent and/or that they might not have the knowledge to do so. Providing free parent education would attract parents to go and learn how to teach their own children how to manage conflicts. An added school curriculum could some class time that the teacher can teach children about conflict management. Teachers can give examples of how they handle conflicts themselves. More time can be spent on educating children about sharing and cooperating with each other. Then children can learn more about feelings and to label them and acknowledge that everyone has feelings. The Western Justice Center (WJC) function is to promote conflict resolution education and peer mediation in schools. Evident, the conflict arises every day and everywhere, such as in school setting, where one student has an issue with another. Specifically, WJC objective is to train teachers at school to conflict resolution, mediation skills, then train the peer students to mediate as well, so when in conflict the peer student is able to operate a mediation conference with a trained support. As illustration, disputes between students usually end up with a physical fight, bullying and frequently ends with lost friendship. There are many incidents where disputes become bullying case and escalate to serious casualties. In the event there is a disagreement the students have an opportunity to go to peer mediator in order to participate in alternative dispute resolution process. To point out, Pasadena middle school went through WJC program, and results have shown positive effect. As a result, the violence at school decreased, the tone of the school transformed to helpful. The feedback from the students was forward-looking, they not only saw a positive way to resolve problems, but also learn more valuable skills like active listening, changing perspective and understanding each other better. The principal and teachers told me that they do not have the time to offer STEM classes in the current schedule, class periods are not long enough to incorporate STEM in daily and/or weekly lessons, and the diverse population of classes makes it difficult to include challenging STEM activities for struggling students. As a result of this rise of science and technology, there is a corresponding increase in demand of capable employees in these fields. This area, collectively known as STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, has seen a great increase in demand. One response to this increase in demand is early and more focused STEM education. This has led to the recent and increasingly large appearance of STEM focused high schools. With this recent push to better prepare the next generation of students to be high achieving in STEM and fill the projected demand, the number of STEM high schools has grown. Along with the current societal setting of a changing transition to adulthood, the questions of what are some measured outcomes of STEM high schools and how do STEM high schools affect the transition to adulthood arise.
As you may know, not many people may understand exactly what STEM means. STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The school I attend, focuses around this acronym strongly. This is not a bad thing for it has allowed me to become stronger in a variety of skills.

Their approach is to integrate all these areas of study into one lesson plan designed to boost kids interest in these areas.
