Having a great GPA is always desirable but 1 year after college or three months after the class is over, how much does the student retain? One of the complaints you often hear from teachers of grades 1-12 is that students forget a significant amount of information over the summer break so extra time has to be allotted to get them back up to speed. Since significant loss of information probably occurs with college students too, I asked myself, “What can I do to improve retention of taught information?” Repetition, I think, is the key. I would like to incorporate opportunities to see key concepts in different ways in my courses. I would like to develop courses that parallel the major course to facilitate the retention of taught information. For example, if a student makes 80% on an exam. An analysis of the missed information would be used to develop a plan to reinforce the missed concepts in a parallel course/lab for the class. The student would be asked to …show more content…
For example, when my student won 2nd place in a campus-wide science fair, she had worked really diligently and had demonstrated excellent research skills. However, I had to intervene and insist that she put as much time and effort into the preparation for the presentation as she did her experiments. She did and it really showed. I was beaming when she won!—“Taking responsibility” philosophy was used. Then there was the time, when I required everyone in my biology laboratory class to diagram and discuss the flow of blood though the heart, orally. Seriously, everyone had to do it before leaving lab. I did this because I recognized many of the students were not paying attention, were loud, and/or did not care. Suddenly, they had to pay attention. The pride on some of the “weaker” student’s faces (who I had intentionally asked to present later after hearing the information numerous times) when they got it done, was priceless –“Repetition” philosophy was

I was standing for 20 minutes “doing nothing” at Jay Gee’s , on a hot weather around 6:00pm on September 9, 2015. This is an ice cream place where families and kids go during the summer to play golfing, go cars, batting cages and an arcade. Families also go to eat ice cream and spend a good time with kids and family. As I was standing in front of kids and adults while they were trying to order ice cream or play, I saw people looking at me with an strange looks, like if I had four head, some people ignore me while others ask me if I was okay or ask me what I was doing and if I needed any help. Others where talking among others criticizing me by saying that I was crazy. Others pull their child away from me like if I was going to something
On Tuesday July 21, 2015 at approximately 8:10pm, Ms. Carter called me on my cell phone and asked me, “How much longer was I going to be out on my route?” I stated to Ms. Carter that,” I didn’t know because I had two more splits left to do.” She called Mrs. Anderson on the phone and they both conferenced me in. Mrs. Anderson asked me how much longer it was going to take me. I also stated to her that, “I didn’t know.”

I signed up for the Recording Technology degree because I felt that I would learn valuable information in this class. My long term goal is to actually be a music producer, but since record companies and studios are starting to go out of business, I figured it would be useful to learn some tips that could at least let me work in the realm of music until I finally get a shot to produce music for a living.
II. Compare the bill with another of the same denomination and series. If the bill feels all right, or if you are a little suspicious but unsure, hold the bill side by side with another bill. Different denominations, obviously, look different, so get a note of the same amount. In addition, all denominations, except the $1 and $2, have been redesigned at least once since 1990, so it is best to compare the suspect bill to one in the same series, or date.
I believe the name of the new school being built should be named after a local important historical figure in our community. I believe that's the best way to name it because alumni of our previous school would appreciate us keeping the school name local, which could possibly inspire them to donate us money to help build up our school. I believe the mascot should stay relatively similar to the one of our old school because, we all still live in the same community so why not have a similar mascot.
In the design, the topology used is a star topology. The computers in every office or classroom are linked to the central device known as the switch. The star topology leads to the expansion of the network without any disruption. This defines the use of a hub, a router or a switch to interconnect various computers together. All the workstations in this topology are connected with a connection of point-to-point to the central device. The data is first passed through the primary device before reaching the planned destination. Hub controls and manages the whole network. The hubs connect several nodes that are present in the star system. The hub acts as the signal booster (Elhakeem, 2010).
From the perspective of positive psychology, there is a well-being formula invested by Martin Seligman to achieve a higher well-being. Martin Seligman (2010) defined as happiness: H (to maintain the length of happiness) = S (happy range breadth) + V (you can control the factors) + C (your living environment). Happy length: the distinction between "temporary" happy and "persistent" happy. Temporary happiness can be achieved by food, comedy, bunch of flowers. While the persistence of happiness is mainly affected by genetic, and this genetic trait can be changed. The breadth of happiness: psychologists think that we are born with a happy constant point, like a thermometer. If there is a happier thing, even if we are upset, it will be dedicated
The setting is Washington Elementary School in West Orange, NJ. The grade I picked is first grade. The age group in the class is between the ages of five and seven. The subjects they learn are math, language arts, social studies, and writing. But they focus more on reading and math throughout the day. There are 8 girls and 8 boys in the classroom which makes 16 students in total. The class is divided into three racial and ethnic groups which are Latino or Hispanic, African Americans, and Asian American. There are about 1 Asian American, 6 Latino or Hispanic, and 9 African Americans.
As a future teacher, it will be part of my job to increase my students’ moral reasoning. Moral reasoning deals with how individuals think about moral issues. Lawrence Kohlberg developed stages of moral reasoning which researchers use to assess an individual. According to Steinberg (2014), the adults in an adolescent’s life can impact their moral development. Therefore, as their teacher, I will conduct activities in my classroom, such as Collaborative Reasoning, Think-Pair-Share, a line activity, and an online discussion board, which will foster my students’ moral development. In addition, I will monitor my students’ growth by conducting a pre-assessment as well as a final assessment. Through my classroom activities, I expect my students to
This semester the teacher for my major class are Todd Kasow(film music editing),Ronald Sadoff(film music history). My private lesson teacher is Irwin L Fisch, I think he is a serious and responsible teacher, really like him so my next semester I will study with him again. We have recording session each semester. In the first semester, we have 2 recording sessions. One is guitar(or other plucked string instruments), another is flute and cello. In the later semester, we will do a percussion session, string session and full orchestra session. All of the recording sessions we need to choose a 2 minutes video to scoring. So the private lesson can help us to prepare for the recording sessions. The next semester I will take the "Scoring for film and
Gross domestic product, GDP, is the sum of consumption, investments, government purchases, and net exports. Consumption includes services, nondurable goods, and durable goods. According to the article, “No Let-up Seen In Rent Hikes This Year,” services would increase because there would be an increase in demand for real estate agents as more people look for housing. Because “many young adults are also putting off getting married and having kids,” nondurable goods would most likely remain at the same value as there would not be a dramatic increase in population and in demand for nondurable goods. Durable goods, such as furniture, would increase as more people move into new apartments that need to be furnished. In the category of investments,
