Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around. One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to …show more content…
My mother always told me, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going.’ When times get rough it is important to not waste time sitting in self-pity, instead you need to take charge and change things for the better. I believe that being a good leader does not wait around just hoping, instead they make things happen. There are many elements that I believe make a good leader, but just being genuine and passionate towards a cause is what I believe is most important. The career path I have chosen to take is in the medical field. My dream from a young age was always to be a nurse. A nurse is a healthcare professional who is focused on caring for people, and making sure that they manage, maintain, and recover patients to the finest state of health (What is Nursing, par.1). Nursing makes up a vast majority of the healthcare industry. There is a huge range of nursing specialties. Nurses work in General and surgical Hospitals, doctor’s offices, nursing care facilities, outpatient facilities, and home health services (Why Be a Nurse, par. 2). Nursing is an extremely flexible career, with one hundred and four specialties and a lot of advanced nursing degrees, so there is something for everyone in this field (Why Be a Nurse, par. 4). Nurses do much more than just help people heal physically. Nurses are there to make sure patients are taken care of physically and emotionally. There are different levels of
Understanding what leadership is, it is leading, influencing, commanding and guiding people. A good leader leads the pack, influence them as a role model, command them and sticks them together in crisis and guide them to be the best in professional as well as personal life. Thinking about who are leaders or are they made, in my personal view, I would say that, everyone is a born leader, where some stands up and fly, and some others sit back and watch.
3). In this relationship, each must work through phases including conflict resolution and negotiation as part of the process. Transformational theory further explains leadership must include exhibiting a degree of emotional intelligence. This occurs when perceiving how others feel, understanding how the feelings lead to thinking, understanding the emotions, and managing emotions internally. In respects to this theory, emotional intelligence enhances this bi-directional relationship between the leader and the followers (Spears, 2002).
Leadership is the ability to influence others and investing ones self to achieve a common goal. Influencing others requires you to sometimes have different groups; races, sexes, religious beliefs, etc. find that common ground in order to achieve something greater than them. Investing ones self to show there is no differentiation between you and the people who follow you. That we all carry the same weight and I expect no more from you than I would expect from myself.
Leadership, to me, is more than being someone who gives orders and makes decisions. Being a leader means setting a standard and holding up the values and principles that they stand for. A leader should motivate others to be better in their work and life practices. In the nursing profession, leaders are necessary to make sure that processes can run smoothly and effectively all while making exceptional patient experiences.
The definition of leadership has different kinds of meanings to me. Having leadership could be a person that has done a great impact on society or has just done something that has made someone feel better. Leaders have a great responsibility probably the most difficult job for a leader is to persuade others to follow. It can only be possible if the leader inspires there followers by setting a good example. When the going gets tough, they look up to a leader and see how they react to the situation. If they can handle it well. As a leader, they should think positive and this positive approach should be visible through their actions. Some great leader over the years has had left a legacy that other people can look up to. And feel inspired to

Leadership is a powerful word. It can represent the good or bad in a person. When I think of leadership, I think of the people in my life who have accomplished a great deal to help others. I noticed that all of them have their own values and ways of accomplishing greatness in their life. I believe that in order for me to be successful as a leader, it is essential that you understand my own personal beliefs and values.
Being a leader is about giving other people confidence and helping them achieve their goals, and being ok with learning from others. A leader should not always be in authority or managing others, a leader works with their group and uses people's strengths to accomplish the goal. A leader must also learn to effectively lead their group and use everyone’s strengths, but also build up their weakness.
By understanding the differences between the broad spectrums of leadership and the underlying styles that can be used to better facilitate the care setting; we can comprehend what nursing leadership truly is. Through the comparison of clinical and nursing leadership we can better distinguish what really makes up nursing leadership and the specific leadership styles that facilitate these types of leadership. Through personal accounts and research, these forms of leadership will be displayed and broken down and the importance for without it “there will be no order, only chaos” (Robertson, n.d.)
Leadership is about serving. A good leader selflessly prioritises others before themselves. A good leader does not hold their position because of ego but because of a drive to benefit their community. A good leader operates with fairness and kindness, knowing the ends never justify the means. Whilst some leaders are prominent, leadership also occurs behind the scenes. Many leaders advise, assist, organise, and plan in the background. To me, leadership is to work with others to make the world better.
Nursing leadership professionals must be able to develop a successful vision for the nursing organization and nurture collaborative relationships among interdepartmental staff and management in an effort to implement that vision.
