At first I did not not feel very confident when trying to answer this question because I could not remember the method involved when converting scale. I was able to interpret the question and I understood what it required; however, I could not recall the process involved in reaching the answer. After trying a few different methods and giving it some thought, I remembered what to do. I had learnt how to answer these questions in high school geography and I still had the knowledge, but I just had to go through the process of recalling it. So, the method I used to solve the problem was to write out the scale used in the diagram as a ratio, simplify it and then convert it to a written statement. Thus, I was unsure about how to answer this question …show more content…
This method involves drawing a second line adjacent to the original 4cm line and drawing the 8mm scale onto this line. Then dividing both these lines into four parts to reveal that 1cm represents 2mm. When I came across this question I felt confident in my ability to answer it. Throughout high school I was exposed to many similar questions; because algebra was heavily focused on in my mathematics classes. To answer the question I converted the written instructions into an algebraic statement. So, each sentence was represented by a series of letters and numbers instead of the original words. The algebraic expression that I formed matched one of the possible answers; thus, I felt confident with my final answer. This question is linked to the Australian Curriculum’s ‘Patterns and Algebra’ content descriptor (ACMNA176) which requires children to “create algebraic expressions and evaluate them by substituting a given value for each variable” (ACARA, n.d.). Algebra is essentially the study of mathematical symbols and the rules for manipulating these symbols. Thus, by converting written sentences in symbolic numerical expressions, algebra has been utilised. More specifically, an algorithm has been followed. Algorithms are step by step guides on how to do something. Thus, the series of clear steps listed in this question creates an
3. The distance between scale markings on the horizontal scale is 100 km. Comparison of the vertical and horizontal scales indicates that the vertical scale is exaggerated [(10)(100)(1000)] times relative to the horizontal scale.
Distinguishing between scale and proportion is significant in depicting a specific image in which the size is questionable and cannot be visualized accurately. According to the textbook, scale is the size relation of one thing to another. However, Proportion is
1. Weather is the current state of the atmosphere. Climate is the long-term weather conditions for an area or region. Some examples of weather will be tornadoes, hurricanes and flooding. When it comes to climate common examples will be tropical, polar, marine, and Mediterranean. The difference between weather and climate is that climate is a long-term weather. We can say that climate is like the “official” weather of the region or country. For example, in Dominican Republic, our climate is tropical. On the other hand, weather is the current situation on the region or country.
Matthew is a conscientious, hard-working student. He has been very dedicated this year to learning each topic in the course especially programming. This level of commitment will no doubt give great dividends in the future. He is very good at meeting deadlines, and he always does his work to a high standard. All he needs now to gain endorsement in this subject is complete the externally marked Computer Science report to a high standard.
In 1996 the largest population consisted of people aged 30-50, there were not as many people in the dependency load. In 2011, there were more people aged 40-65, who are getting close to retirement. There are not as many babies being born today as previous years because people are choosing to not have as many children. The baby boomers are getting older and there will soon be more people in the dependency load as the workforce. In 2011 there were more people ages 85 and up because nowadays people have been able to live longer.
On Friday July 10 2015, Blank looked at her cellphone, I assumed she had received a picture from someone, from her respond from looking at her phone. After she received the the picture she began to ask around the medical record chart room , did anyone. Want to see the picture she had. Received. I decline, due to her actions concerning the picture. She proceeded to ask other staff member did they want to see the picture and majority of the staff members looked at it. Once I realized what type of picture they. Were looking at I told her to stop that madness and she should put it away or delete it. I assumed she felt it was ok to show the picture, because she had been conversing and laughing with them all day. I personally do not indulge in showing
It is compulsory for Australian year 3, 5, 7 and 9 school students to complete the National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy (National Assessment Program, 2016) test. The NAPLAN test provides schools, governments, education authorities, students and the community statistics of schools and individual student’s weaknesses and strengths in specific areas of curriculum. One of the areas of curriculum that is tested is Mathematics. For this assignment we had to answer five questions from a year 9 NAPLAN test. I felt confident answering majority of the questions correctly; taking my time to logically work out each question with the aid of pen and paper when needed. I am a visual learner, so I was able to mentally solve most of the questions in my head. I rarely need to use a calculator as I have memorized many different strategies for working out mathematical questions.
Unlike the others who are locked in a marathon of emotion. Bobby, the high school playboy with the Brad Pitt looks and the Casanova charm remains calm. He is waiting in the car with Maureen the Ann Frances replica, and last of an endangered species. This only means, that she has not allowed any guy to get to the plate, let alone to first base. However, despite her stellar reputation the two of them seem to be spending their time just fine, wanting the others to leave so they can be alone.
Happy New Year … I’ve just returned to the office and read the ETO & TEGL on high risk grants. Before, I submit a response to the SIMS, I wanted to run my thoughts by you to see if I’m overlooking anything.
There are three major conflicts that are present in this scenario, for example: Barb Johnson is a new hire at her current place of employment, her assistant superintendent would like her to present a curriculum change to her new colleagues, and the resistance to change expressed by the middle school teacher. Each of these issues is something a reading specialist would need to take care of in any school district.
For the remaining parameters, we needed a tree that would not lose its readability and still provide good results; therefore, we chose a maximum depth of 7, since increasing it did not improve the results significantly, and would have made it more difficult to extract the rules and observe the results. Regarding the maximum number of bins, the default value is 32. As our variables were all continuous we could choose a lower number of bins and the one that yielded best results was
Directions: Teacher must create negotiations from the beginning of the project with the students. This will determine the criteria for the content, format, and final product. The contract will include that if the students struggle, they must go to teacher so teacher will help them.
Find the average distance of Pluto from the Sun. Using the same scale as Procedure B, calculate the scaled distance that Pluto should be on your model. Show your work! 5,906,376,200 / 25,000,000 = 236.25cm ~ 236 cm
Week 1 DQ 1 1. What four steps should be used in evaluating expressions? 2. Can these steps be skipped or rearranged? Explain your answers.3. Provide an expression for your classmates to evaluate.
My goal for my CGI lesson was to have students solve a word problem using anyone of their math strategies that they have been working on with the master teacher. However, I also wanted them to add an equation sentence to their strategy because that is what they will be doing in 1st grade rather than just drawing pictures. When I was grading their work, I can say 81% of the class met the objective for the day, which means only 5 students got the problem wrong and 22 students showed a strategy with the correct answer. Out of the 22 students who used a math strategy and got the right answer, only 3 didn’t show an equation sentence. Grading students’ work made me
