The Power of Women On November 21, 1922 Rebecca Felton was the first woman to have a seat in the US senate. In 1964 Chase Smith was the first woman to be nominated for President. In 1984 Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman nominated for Vice President. There haven’t been many powerful women but that doesn’t mean there aren’t powerful woman. Woman like Angela Merkal, Jannet Yellen, Hillary Clinton and Park Guen-hye can be just as powerful as men or even more powerful. These woman have all made history and hopefully one day all woman will be seen equal to men. Hillary was head of task force on National Health Care Reform and participated in the Un Forth World Conference on Woman. She also participated in the World Economic Forum. Hillary was later nominated to be the US senate seat for New York. She was the first lady to run for Federal Office and also won general election. Hillary was re-elected senator and in 2008 she announced her Democratic Presidency. She was ahead of Barack Obama for a little while before he took off. Obama nominated Hillary to be Secretary of State. Also while Hillary was in power she worked with Russia to reduce nuclear weapons. She has also started a foundation partnering with Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and Melinda Gates to study the data on the global process of women and girls. She has remained consistent throughout her career as an advocate for gender equality, human rights, and women’s rights policies. Throughout her time in the Senate, she advocated women’s rights and used her status around the world to shine a light on issues of importance for women and girls. Hillary Clinton’s unwavering stance has supported that women lives are just as valuable as any other lives, women’s rights are human’s rights, and anything less is unacceptable. Hilary Clinton understands that the world needs to recognize the unfair injustice being committed against women’s rights. She chooses to speak out, instead of remaining silent. The world must understand and recognize that in the fight for justice, by remaining silent and turning a blind eye, which is considered the same as supporting injustices. Hillary Clinton suggested in her speech the world should no longer ignore the wrongs being globally committed against women, around the globe in today’s society, the issues of inhumanity and injustices are rising as the value on women lives declines.
