In 1994, O.J. Simpson was convicted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. A lot of evidence was found that points he was the murderer. Yet some how, Simpson was found not guilty. I believe O.J. Simpson is completely guilty of the murder of his ex wife and her friend and should be behind bars for it. O.J Simpson’s trial started in November 1994 and lasted until October 1995. The trial lasted for 8 months and was considered “the most publicized criminal trial in American history”. O.J. had a team of defense attorneys led by Robert Shapiro and included Johnnie Cochran, F. Lee Bailey, Alan Dershowitz, Robert Kardashian, Gerald Uelmen, Robert Blasier, and Carl E. Douglas.
O.J. Simpson should have been found guilty of murder because of evidence found before his trial. O.j. and Nicole married in 1985 and began their family by having their first child, Sydney and three years later, Justin. All seemed well in the relationship until family members and friends came out that O.J. has been abusing her all seven years of marriage (Noble). Nicole kept journal entries recording what she went through daily from mental and physical abuse to stalking. “Threw me on the floor hit me kicked me. We went to Sherry Land Hotel where he continued to beat me for hours as I kept crawling for the door” (Brown). Nicole called the police eight times, but O.J. was never actually arrested, only once. “She’s wearing nothing but a bra
The people directly involved with this case are Judge Lance Ito, the prosecution lawyers, Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, the defense lawyers, Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro and Robert Blasier , the jury and the defendant, O.J. Simpson. The families of the victims have also been present in the courtroom, as well as other spectators and news media. This case has heard one hundred and twenty witnesses over a nine month period.
The jury really didn’t seem to remember the most important piece of information which was that the defendant’s blood was actually found at the crime scene. Bugliosi said “From the moment O.J. Simpson became a suspect in this double murder case, it was in the air, perhaps as in no other case within
On May 4th, 1994, the Goldman family sues O.J. A lot of Simpson’s personal items, such as his trophies and cars were seized. On November 6th 1996, the jury was composed of nine Whites, one Black, one Hispanic, and an Asian. A photographer claims to have taken a picture of Simpson in 1993 wearing Bruno Magli shoes, which were the same ones that were worn by the killer of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. O.J completely denied the picture; which led the photographer to release to the jury over 30 pictures of Simpson in the shoes. Also, on November 11th, pathologists thought that the scars and scratches on O.J’s hands may have been caused by the victim’s finger nails when trying to resist being stabbed to death. However, Simpson claimed that he might have gotten the cuts and scars on his wrists by “rassling” with his son. (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/index/nns171.htm)
Soon later the police finally picked up enough evidence to get a warrant for his arrest. Simpson and his lawyer Robert Shapiro both agreed that he will turn himself in at 10:00 am on June 17. Simpson didn’t go at the time he was given so the policemen and Robert Shapiro went to Simpsons home and discovered that he disappeared and left a letter saying "Don't feel sorry for me. I've had a great life, great friends. Please think of the real O. J. and not this lost person. Thanks for making my life special. I hope I helped yours. Peace and love, O. J." (Linder). Policemen and his lawyer thought it was a suicide letter. Until someone in Orange County saw Simpson riding a white bronco and immediately called the police. Only a couple of minutes later police cars and helicopters were chasing him, they followed Simpson all the way to his front gate of his house. Policemen saw that he was wearing a fake beard and had $8,750 in cash, loaded gun, and a passport, days later he was on his first day of the trial. On Tuesday, Jan 24, 1995 was the first day of the trial, Judge Lance Ito open to the people in the courtroom that he will be expecting to see some good lawyering skills for the case. Christopher Darden who open the trial said that Simpson was and abusive and a jealous husband to Nicole B. Simpson.
There have been many cases over the years within in the criminal justice system where people have walked free from committing a crime as well as those being put behind bars for being accused of committing a crime they never committed. DNA testing in the criminal justice system can be the decision maker for someone who is either going to walk free from the crime they possibly committed or get put behind bars for a crime they may have not committed. DNA testing has been used to sentence hundreds and convict thousands of people across the country every year. DNA evidence is one of the best examples on how technology has made convicting the criminals who have committed a crime much easier than it has been done in the past. DNA evidence does not necessarily pinpoint the exact criminal on who have may commited the crime, but it does bring it down to a handful of the population who are being questioned for the crime. It is one of the most accurate ways of finding out evidence as long as it is properly done and handled correctly.
Known around the world as O. J., famous celebrity Orenthal James Simpson was arrested and convicted for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her mistress, Ron Lyle Goldman. Although Simpson denied any participation in the crime, the FBI found numerous evidence that proved hands down that he was the murderer. After a trial that lasted more than eight months, he was acquitted and was able to go home. Personally, I feel that the jury made the wrong decision.
officers was on their way and told Zimmerman not to follow the allegedly suspicious person, but
However, I think the most important people that this trial concerned were the families and friends of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The families of the victims were probably the most interested in the long eleven month trial. They had to patiently wait around for the verdict and they all wanted O.J. to be punished for what they believed he did. The second most important key public is O.J. Simpson’s family and friends. He was the one main suspect, and everyone he cared about was awaiting the verdict. They had to sit around and watch him run from the police during a speed chase on TV, and they had to pray he wasn’t guilty. Lastly, I think the entire population of America at the time were huge key publics. Although the case didn’t necessarily involve them in anyway, they helped make the trial as huge as it was. If people weren’t constantly watching the trial on TV or were concerned about it at all, it would not have been as big of a deal. They were the key to the popularity of it
murdered Nicole and Ronald Goldman. Evidence lead to him being guilty, but O.J. was smart and snaked
I personally believe that OJ Simpson killed Nicole and Goldman because there are enough evidences to point out that OJ Simpson did the crime. First of all, Simpson flee from the police and only guilty people would do that because if you know that you did not do anything illegal you’re going to be confident to face the police but Simpson did the opposite therefore that gave me a strong impression that he is guilty for doing the crime. He ran away to Ford Bronco and saying that he is going to commit suicide. Why would anyone try to commit suicide if they said they were innocent that they didn’t do the crime? Simpson tried committing suicide because he knows that he is not innocent and can’t bear the consequences of what he did wrong. They were
“The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness.” Jodi Arias was charged for murdering her ex-boyfriend. Arias said she killed him using self-defence after he tried to “rape” her. The Jodi case is important because no one had proof on whether she had lied about Alexander trying to rape her or, she had raped and killed him purposely. It really seemed like she wanted him back when he no longer had feelings for her and took it to far.
Simpson trying on gloves that were the same as those found at the crime scene. Many people were shocked by the fact that they didn’t fit. Defense attorney Johnnie Cochran created the phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Eventually, simpson was aquitted, and he regained his freedom. Many people disagree with this ruling, but there are also people who believe someone else commited these murders. Although he was a free man he was found liable, or guilty, for the murders in civil court and had to pay the victims families $33.5 million. In simpler terms, OJ Simpson was found guilty for murder, but also
The next process in the Justice system, a Grand Jury indictment, was interrupted. OJ Simpson hired a top notch team of defense and appellate lawyers to defend him in this case and they were able to get the Grand Jury dismissed from this case due to the massive media coverage. They claimed that the jury was prejudiced toward the defendant because of the readily available information about the case. In lieu of the Grand Jury trial a probable cause hearing was conducted. With that, the judge in this hearing felt that enough evidence did exist for a criminal trial and OJ Simpson was arraigned on July 29th 1994. At his arraignment OJ pleaded not guilty, specifically stating that he was “one hundred percent not guilty”.
The OJ Simpson case has been hailed "The Trial of the Century." One of the longest running court trials in history, this case was filled with conspiracy, controversy, and the power of celebrity. The biggest part of the trial was the evidence. The submission of the blood samples, the DNA testing, and the articles of clothing made the case what it was. Amidst all the accusations of planted evidence and conspiracy plans against Simpson, the jury and Judge Ito had to try to sift through and find Simpson guilty or not guilty.
