Izaak Walton

Our Angles are like money put to usury; they may thrive, though we sit still and do nothing but talk and enjoy one another.

Angling is somewhat like Poetry, men are to be born so.

Angling may be said to be so like the Mathematics that it can never be fully learnt; at least not so fully but that there will still be more new experiments left for the trial of other men that succeed us.

Clear as the crystal brooks.

With as much ease as whirlwinds move feathers.

Free as fishing is.

Sure as creed.
