Frank J. Wilstach, comp. A Dictionary of Similes. 1916.

Mathilde Blind

Chill as ice.

Fluttering to the ground, dropped like a wounded bird.

Glaring at each other like two gaunt wolves with a famished brood.

Gleamed like star-motes in the milky-way.

Glow and glimmer soft as ocean blush of Indian shells.

Gone as evanescent cloudlands.

Immortal as the stars.

Smiting like a cry.

Sweet as odour of the upland thyme.

White as foam-drift in the moony shimmer of starlit, wave-pavilioned dells.

Young as the hour of birth.
