Booth Tarkington (1869–1946)

Tarkington, (Newton) Booth. An American novelist; born in Indiana, July 29, 1869; died in 1946. His writings include: ‘The Gentleman from Indiana’ (1899); ‘Monsieur Beaucaire’ (1900); ‘Two Vanrevels’ (1902); ‘Foreign Exchange’ (1909); ‘The Conquest of Canaan’; ‘The Turmoil’; ‘Penrod’; ‘Seventeen’; ‘The Magnificent Ambersons.’ (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
