Carl von Rotteck (1775–1840)

Rotteck, Carl Wenzeslaus Rodecker von (rot’ek). A German historian; born at Freiburg, Baden, July 18, 1775; died there, Nov. 26, 1840. His ‘Universal History’ (1813–27), and its minor compendium, ‘Universal History of the World’ (1830), exercised a great influence upon the middle classes of Germany.
