Charles Babbage (1791–1871)

Babbage, Charles (bab’aj). A celebrated English mathematician; born near Teignmouth, Devonshire, Dec. 26, 1791; died in London, Oct. 18, 1871. His principal work was ‘On the Economy of Machinery’ (1832), which was translated into several languages.
