James Huneker (1857–1921)

Huneker, James [Gibbons] (hū’nek-ėr). An American critic and writer; born at Philadelphia, Jan. 31, 1857; died in 1921. He served several New York newspapers as dramatic critic. Among his works are: ‘Mezzotints in Modern Music’ (1897); ‘Chopin’ (1900); ‘Overtones’ (1904); ‘Iconoclasts’ (1905); ‘Egoists’ (1909); ‘The Pathos of Distance’ (1913); ‘Ivory Apes and Peacocks’ (1915).
