Julius Wilhelm Zincgref (1591–1635)

Zinkgref or Zincgref, Julius Wilhelm (tsink’gref). A German lyric poet; born at Heidelberg, June 3, 1591; died at St. Goar, Nov. 12, 1635. His principal work was ‘German Apothegms’ (later ed. 1644), a collection of epigrams, anecdotes, etc.; ‘The Soldier’s Praise’ (1632), his best poem, an imitation of Tyrtæus.
