Ludwig von Bartók (b. 1851)
Bartók, Ludwig von (bär’tōk). A Hungarian poet and dramatist; born in 1851. He was widely known as a versifier of taste, ‘Carpathian Songs’ being his happiest verse. As a playwright he was even more distinguished; the comedy of ‘The Most Beautiful’ (1880), and the historical tragedy ‘Margareta Kendi,’ as well as ‘Anna Thuran,’ a historical drama, having been frequently acted.
