Nathaniel Lord Britton (1859–1934)

Britton, Nathaniel Lord. An American scientific writer; born on Staten Island, NY, Jan. 15, 1859; died in 1934. He was director of the New York Botanical Garden. Among his works are: ‘Geology of Staten Island’ (1880); ‘Catalogue of the Flora of New Jersey’ (1882); and with A. Brown ‘An Illustrated Flora of the Northern United States, Canada, and the British Possessions.’
