Welch, Philip Henry. An American humorist; born at Angelica, NY, March 1, 1849; died in Brooklyn, NY, Feb. 24, 1889. He has the distinction of being the maker of innumerable newspaper jokes, and short dialogues, the writing of which he made a profession. His books are: ‘The Taylor-Made Girl’ (1888); and ‘Said in Fun’ (1889).
