Robert Bage (1728–1801)

Bage, Robert (bāj’). An English novelist; born at Darley, Derbyshire, Feb. 29, 1728; died at Tamworth, Sept. 1, 1801. He did not begin to write until the age of fifty-three. Among his works were: ‘Mount Henneth’ (1781); ‘Barham Downs’ (1784); ‘Hermsprong, or Man as He Is Not’ (1796); etc.
