In the Synagogue at NazarethArthur Middlemore Morgan
Far less the depth their city-ramparts crown;
Oh say what hinders that they cast Him down,
The Man Who claims to end all prophecies?
He would go down a deeper precipice,
He will go forth anon to die for men,
His own shall seize Him at the token-kiss.
He will not vanish from their midmost then.
For Angel He; the Angel of the Holy,
Before Isaiah spoke or Jordan rolled,
To preach the Gospel to the meek and lowly,
To break the chains, to bid the blind behold,
To bind the broken heart, to preach for near
The day of grace, the Lord’s accepted year.
