It interferes with liver’s excretion of bile pigments and results in accumulation of bile pigments in blood and tissues. Three viruses are known to commonly cause hepatitis in humans are HAV (hepatitis A virus), HBV (hepatitis B virus), and HCV (hepatitis C virus).
