Describe the three major categories of data (time-series, cross-sectional, and panel).
Strands of human hair absorb elements from the bloodstream and provide a historical record of both health and the use or nonuse of chemical substances. Hair grows at the rate of about one – half inch per month, and a person with long hair might be accused or absolved on the basis of a segment of hair that sprouted many months or years ago. By separately analyzing sections of the hair strand, scientists can even approximate the periods of time during which drug use was heavy, moderate, light or altogether absent. If a transit employee provides a strand of hair for drug testing, state the null and alternative hypothesis in verbal terms, then identify what would constitute a Type I error and Type II error in this situation.
What would we call March 2020’s data point? What happened at that point in time to cause this?

- Using satellite imagery to aid agriculture grain production has been done on a limited scale as far back as the 1970's when NASA first launched the Landsat satellite. But it has only been recently that the satellite images, including GPS satellites, and data from typical farm operations have been integrated together to provide a data driven innovative technology that improves the efficiency and productivity on farms. In one study samples were taken on wheat yields in the State of Washington which historically had average yields of 35.6 bushels per acre with a standard deviation of 3.7 bushels per acre. Suppose that a random sample of the wheat yields on 40 different farms was taken and the sample mean for the wheat yields was computed, and you are interested in a probability about the sample mean. 28. - Dr. Payne is studying the number of davs patients stav in Armadillo Community Hospital after a specific surgical procedure. She examined the records of all patients who had the procedure within the past year and found that u = 4 and o = 1.50. She's worried about the long-term outlook for patients who have lengthy hospital stays, and she has recommended to the board of directors that the 15% of patients who stay the longest should receive special follow-up care A. This means that all patients who stay blank (don't round off the number of days) days or more should receive special care. B. If a patient's hospital stay is at the 25th percentile, should he receive special care under Dr. Payne's recommendation?arrow_forwardDefine on empirical way and a statistical way to choose the best forecasting model for your time series data. After 2 months, subjects again reported how many times they ventured (on their own) out of their houses. The data are below. Assess whether there is a significant change in trips outside the home from before to after therapy. a. What are the null and alternative hypotheses? b. What inferential test did you use?
