Explain why the northern United States experiences a cold season in winter and a warm season in summer.
To write:
The reason why the Northern United States experiences a cold season in winter and a warm season in summer.
Introduction:
The Earth experiences various seasons because of the Earth’s tilt. The Earth comes near the Sun at the time of winter due to its elliptical orbit. Though, the distance from the Sun does not influence the seasons, it is tilt of the Earth’s axis which decides the change of seasons.
Explanation of Solution
The Earth gets tilted at a specific angle on its axis. When the Earth revolves around the Sun, then a part of the northern half, which gets tilted towards the sun, encounters warm summers. This happens because the rays of the Sun coming in contact with the Northern Hemisphere are more.
On the contrary, in the course of the revolution, when the Northern Hemisphere gets tilted away from the Sun, then that part of the year is cold. The region that is tilted away from the Sun gets very little solar radiation resulting in a decrease in temperature.
Due to tilting of the Earth at an angle on its axis, the United States encounters a cold winter and a warm summer.
