The factors on which conventional automotive assembly is different from the mixed model final assembly are as follows,
- The significant difference between both the assemblies is that conventional assembly is not flexible in terms of the product, whereas the mixed-model assembly is way more flexible.
- Different shapes, sizes, and orientations of the desired products can be produced simultaneously using mixed-model assembly, but the conventional assembly can’t be used.
- Inventory used is less in mixed-model assembly whereas, inventory needed is more in conventional assembly.
- Work in progress is smooth in mixed-model assembly type whereas, delay happens in conventional assembly.
- Changes in desired products can be changed during working also whereas, in conventional machining, the whole production needed to stop for setup changing.
