His lifestyle has caused Beckett to contract AIDS, and the illness is becoming a serious issue for him. Moreover, Beckett has failed to be truthful about his lifestyle. He has been lying to his associates at the law firm in which he works. 2. Identify the type of crisis (Situational, Developmental, Existential). (10 pts.) Although there are situational and developmental variables at stake, ultimately, Beckett is dealing with an existential crisis. He is coming face to face with his own mortality, and in so doing, confronts moral and ethical issues related to his relationship with his law firm and colleagues. 3. Identify the material, personal, and social resources available to the individual. (10 pts.) Beckett has sufficient income earnings and savings to address both his health care needs and his legal fees. Therefore, material resources are generally not a problem for Beckett. At the same time, the materials of medicine are insufficient for handling Beckett's disease. Beckett's personal resources include his psychological strength, determination, and fortitude, which emerge during the crisis and help him sustain a reasonable level of energy in spite of his ailing body.
