Reverend Charles Caleb Colton, a writer of pros and poetry, once said, “Corruption is like a ball of snow, once its set a rolling, it must increase”. Once corruption has started, there is so many people involved, greed sets in, and it’s so big of a problem it is so hard to stop it or leave it alone, and once you’re in too deep it’s difficult to get out. Under those circumstances, a book called “Animal Farm”, by George Orwell, was an allegory. It was published on the heels of World War II in England in 1945 and in the United States in 1946. The book was written during the war as a cautionary short story in order to expose the dangers presented by Stalinism and Totalitarian Government. For the final piece of evidence for logos, Chapter 3 explained how Squealer convinced the animals to give up the milk and apples for consumption of the pigs needed those resources in order to keep the farm stable, “Milk and apples (this has been proven by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management of this organization depends on us”. By using the reasoning and so called “facts by the pigs, the reader proved how the pigs used logos to persuade the animals to believe them.
Corruption occurs in all walks of life, for example, incorporations, businesses and even school districts. For instance our local school district has been accused of accepting bribes for their own personal gain. The El Paso School District shoes one insurance company over another without thinking of the welfare of others. With this in mind, the pigs would purposely withhold information in order not to get everybody’s input in a situation for the betterment of all. Once corruption is exposed that’s when you have outrage, mistrust and uneasiness in the system. A specific similarity between the superintendent of the El Paso School District and the pigs on “Animal Farm”.
