In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Friar Laurence is to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Friar decided to marry Romeo and Juliet, to attempt to mend the feud between their families. As the play continued, Friar Laurence had provided dangerous medicine to Juliet, leading to Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Because of mishandling the medicine and marrying Romeo and Juliet Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

In the classic play Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence plays a major part. Romeo and Juliet trusted him entirely as he was the priest of their town. They turned to the Friar for help and advice at a few crucial points in the play. Little did these two lovers know that their decision to turn to Friar Laurence for help would eventually lead to their deaths. Friar Laurence was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo and Juliet, he was afraid of committing a sin, and because of his faulty plan for saving Juliet from a marriage to Paris.

He was the one to help and influence them to be together and gave Juliet the potion leading to her death and Romeo’s. Although Friar Laurence is portrayed as a ‘good’ man – and seems to have/do no harm to the people of Verona – he is not completely blameless. Friar Laurence tried to help Juliet but when she told him to go away, he complied and didn’t make any further efforts. Therefore, Friar Laurence leaving Juliet when she found out that Romeo died is another reason why he is most responsible for the tragic events that occur in Romeo and Juliet.

The characters that were at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet were Friar Laurence and Tybalt. Those two characters were the cause for the deaths of these star-crossed lovers. Friar Laurence helped them get married even though they were still kids. Then Friar Laurence knew that neither of the families would have accepted the marriage yet he went and married them. Also, Friar Laurence gave Juliet poison just because she didn’t want to marry Sir Paris when she was already married to Romeo and when Sir Capulet threatened to disown her if she didn’t marry Sir Paris. Friar Laurence had a lot to do with the tragic deaths of these star-crossed lovers known as Romeo and Juliet. Tybalt then wanted to kill Romeo because he’s from the rivaling family and he despised him.

Even though Shakespeare’s play: Romeo and Juliet wasn’t real, people still repeatedly ask who influenced and is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Three reasons that explain why Friar Laurence and Romeo had an impact on the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet are because Friar Laurence thought their marriage would stop rivalry between the family, he didn’t deliver the letter for Romeo in time, and Romeo rushed into a new relationship.

I strongly believe that the person with the most severe impact towards Juliet’s suicide was Friar Lawrence. This guy has guilt all over him!
