William Shakespeare does this through friar Laurence’s inconsiderate actions. When Juliet finds out she needs to marry Paris she immediately goes to Friar Laurence and pleads him for a way not to marry Paris because she loves Romeo. Friar Laurence then gives Juliet a vial which contains a poison that make one seem as if dead. Friar then promises Juliet that when she awakens from her death-like sleep Romeo and himself will be there to watch her wake up. “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift, and hither shall he come; and he and I will watch thy wakening.” (Act 4 scene 1 pg. 148). This did not happen and when Juliet wakes up she does not see the Friar only Romeo. Because of one of Friar Laurence’s mistakes when Romeo found out Juliet is dead he takes a poison causing him to die in the arms of Juliet. William Shakespeare uses the actions of friar Laurence to cause the death of Romeo and Juliet. When Friar Laurence gave the poison he was not thinking of what could happen wrong making his actions inconsiderate. Friar Laurence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he did not keep his promise which caused Romeo to be poisoned and Juliet to stab
In the classic play Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence plays a major part. Romeo and Juliet trusted him entirely as he was the priest of their town. They turned to the Friar for help and advice at a few crucial points in the play. Little did these two lovers know that their decision to turn to Friar Laurence for help would eventually lead to their deaths. Friar Laurence was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo and Juliet, he was afraid of committing a sin, and because of his faulty plan for saving Juliet from a marriage to Paris.
young star-crossed lovers whose death ultimately reunited their feuding families. Many people’s actions led to Romeo and Juliet’s death, but by far, the person whose action ultimately led to the death of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Laurence. There many reasons as to why Friar Laurence is to be blamed for, but the two main reasons are because of him marrying them so that it can end the feud between their families (which it does, but with a cost) and a plan that he proposes which probably was not thought through well enough. Moreover, these are my two reasons as to why Friar Laurence is the most to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet.
Friar Lawrence is the reason why Romeo and Juliet died. “Take thou this vial, being in bed and this distilled liquor drink thou off.” This quote shows that Friar Lawrence gives Juliet the potion to kill herself. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion to kill herself. When Romeo saw Juliet faking her death he assumed that she was dead so he killed himself.
Now Juliet is left alone in a tomb alone knowing that her is dead. Friar Laurence also was suppose to give Romeo a letter with a plan but it never got delivered to Romeo. Friar Laurence ask Friar John “ Who bare my letter, then, to Romeo”. Friar John answered back “ I could not send it- here it is again-”. That’s another reason why Friar Laurence is at fault for Romeo and Juliet death, Never got the plan out letter to Romeo.
Who is most to blame for the deaths of two lovers? There have been many tragedies caused by romance. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a drama placed in Verona, Italy. It is known for two families, Montague and Capulets to be in a long standing feud. It is also known for the tragedy between two star-crossed lovers from the two households. After a series of tragic events, the two lovers commit suicide. There are several characters that can be responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but the character that is most to blame is Friar Laurence. He was the one to help and influence them to be together and gave Juliet the potion leading to her death and Romeo’s. Friar Laurence is the most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet for his thoughtless decisions.
In the Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence was a monk, and a counselor, who came up with intricate plots and concocted a seemingly magical elixir in order to solve problems that the lovers encountered. Friar Lawrence had a profound impact on the outcome of this Shakespearean play; however, in a way that led to catastrophe. There are many factors that caused the deaths of the lovers, but two of the most important were how Friar Lawrence disregarded his own logic, and how he missed numerous opportunities to save the lovers.
Even though numerous characters in the play contributed to the death of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence’s irresponsibility and lack of recognition makes him most to blame. To begin, Romeo proposes the idea about marring Juliet, a member of the Capulet Family by telling Friar Laurence “Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set on the fair daughter of rich Capulet (2.3.57-58). Romeo has completely forgotten about Rosaline, and now has focused his love onto Juliet. The Friar agrees with Romeo. Friar Laurence's decision is irresponsible because he agrees with the idea of members of opposite noble families being married. By marrying Romeo and Juliet, Friar is acting like Lord
Friar Laurence’s character flaws greatly impacted the end result of the play. The Friar should be punished for his poorly made decisions throughout Shakespeare’s story. His first mistake was when he initially helped Romeo and Juliet with the aid of the Nurse. Both Romeo and Juliet are children and their parents should be included in every decision made for them. The Friar married Romeo and Juliet in Act 3 of the play. “Till Holy Church incorporate two in one” (3.1.37) The marriage was the start of many issues. Such as Juliet’s inability to wed Paris, being a married lady. This led to Friar’s next choice of giving Juliet the sleeping potion—making her appear dead. “Take this vial, being then in bed,” (4.1.93) Giving Juliet the poison was the reason why so many characters had died in the end of Act 5 of the play. Paris had died fighting Romeo because he thought he was attempting to steal Juliet’s “dead” body. Romeo, ignorant of the fact that Juliet was not dead, killed himself. Juliet committed suicide because of her fiancé lying next to her lifeless. The poison given by Friar

“Take thou this vial, being then in bed, / And this distilled liquor drink thou off” (Shakespeare 4.1.96-97) This quote reveals that Friar gave Juliet the sleeping potion to drink the night before Paris and Juliet were to be married. The plan that he had in mind was for Juliet to drink the sleeping potion that would make her appear dead for forty-two hours, be buried in the Capulet tomb, then be saved and took to Mantua by Romeo when she woke up. However, it is later revealed that Friar John couldn’t bring the important letter Friar Laurence wrote to Romeo that described the plan because he was quarantined inside of a house because town health officials suspected he was infected with the plague. When he heard of this, Friar Laurence was going to write to Romeo again, meanwhile taking Juliet to his cell when she woke up and keeping her there until Romeo arrived. It was too late, since Romeo already heard that Juliet was dead from Balthasar, causing him to already be on his way to Juliet’s grave to kill himself so he could be with her. Friar Laurence allowing Juliet to drink the sleeping potion before he was certain that Romeo knew about the plan was ultimately what caused the death of Romeo and
