Osteochondritis Dissecans is a condition that occurs when there is an injury to the cartilage within a joint. Cartilage is the tissue between the joints to ensure that they don’t rub together. This condition affects more often in children and adolescents than in older people. OCD occurs when a small part of the bone starts to separate from the surrounding area caused by a lack of blood supply. As a result from this condition the small piece of bone and the cartilage that covers it begins to crack and loosen.
The most commonly affected areas are the elbow, knee, and ankle. This condition typically only affects one joint but some children can develop OCD in several joints. OCD is most common
