Unit 5 Assignment
Being in this class gave me insight on the way that I learn. I’ve had my share of jobs along with schooling and various other learning experiences. Some good, some bad but I can honestly say that I never noticed the pattern on how I learn. Now I know I learn more by being more of a hands on person. Also utilizing my thinking and problem solving skills has helped with my growth. I also found it important to use my reflective observation too. Mostly combining different learning styles have helped me in life to understand the way I learn and the benefits that could come if I use my strengths to further my ambitions.
My note taking was scattered, sloppy, and unfinished. Currently it’s getting better. Some of the advantages I can get out of good note taking is better organization, quick reference’s, and better time management. I don’t eat right and don’t concentrate well. I know staying up is not healthy and is not good for test taking. Around the time it comes to a test I stay up and cram and I’m so tired I might just put down anything and not care if the answer is right or wrong. Not eating right can also hurt your chances to pass a test. With me I would be thinking about food rather than the actual test. Even though I would know about a test in advance, I would not study until the night before. Sometime it worked but mostly it didn’t. Basically it was like trying to beat the system and you know you can’t do that. Cheating is not an option because it’s morally wrong. I would not get anything out of it. I also wouldn’t like the consequence’s. For multiple choice, true/false, and short answer test’s some hints could be to actually study and review your notes. My interviewee was Sarah Afshinpour she’s a Teacher and she has been teaching for 8 years and she is a currently the Aboriginal Education Coordinator at Roma Mitchell Secondary collage (RMSC). She started teaching in the country that is where she comes from originally.
Through completing this activity, I learned more than I have with any other activity I have done thus far while earning my Education Specialist degree. I had to observe a teacher and provide constructive feedback using the Framework for Teaching. This observation included a pre-conference where the teacher told me what she wanted me to pay particular attention to. It required that I observe in real-time, rather than simply using a video where I can pause frequently. I then had to analyze the data I collected during the observation, in order to determine strengths and areas for improvement that I shared during the post-conference. The teacher was a master teacher and thought the lesson went very well. She was shocked when I had some ideas for how to improve her instruction. I mentioned that students seemed fidgety, and she could incorporate more cooperative structures to get students more active in their learning. I also thought she needed cooperative roles for students when they completed their group work, that way everyone was accountable for the work.
Job title was stated as assistant PE teacher, roles were; setting up equipment for lessons, taking warm ups and full lessons (at times), helping students with both practical and theory based work and finally, marking work for both GCSE and A-Level.
By doing Module 1 of this course I had opportunity to think about my career as a teacher. In order for me to improve learners’ learning I have to create for them appropriate environment using different teaching strategies in which every learner feels respected and safe. Learners need to know that learning has a purpose and what they are learning it is relevant to their lives. Also it is important to provide them with feedback regarding their progress on what they are trying to achieve, how far they are from the goal that was set. And how to achieve all I have to keep on trying new things and improving teaching skills. The actual teaching, classes I attended for this course gave me opportunity to better myself as a teacher. I learned about teaching principals from our teaching classes, later applied my knowledge in my actual teaching practice and also learned about teaching ideas through the web. From all these I understood that my development as a teacher should never end because teaching is a part of a life-long

To this point, the team has been operating according to the set time mentioned by the team leader in T1 assignment. So far, the team is as well working collaboratively by helping each other with the team assignments, answering the questions if any and also doing each individual part on time. I examine that each and every one of the team members arrives at the meeting on time and well prepared with the intention that upcoming assignment is completed on time. None of the team members feel shy or uncomfortable in talking with the group members regarding their opinions for the assignments.
Understanding how learning works is just as important as understanding what is being learned. Knowing what type of mindset and learning styles are exhibited by a person is an important tool for their growth. It is commonly thought that a successful learner is academically gifted, but this isn’t necessarily the case. Learning is not restricted to only academics; people also learn from experiences. In fact, experiences are what have had the biggest impact on my constantly changing learning style and habits. The experiences that I’ve had have allowed me to form certain qualities, and a certain learning style and profile. Reflecting on these experiences and what I learn from them is vital if I want to figure out what I need to change in order to learn more efficiently. I also think that reflecting on what habits successful learners have is an important part of becoming the best learner I can be.
I liked this class because I became friends with people I would have never gotten the chance to know if we didn’t share this course together. I also enjoyed the class meetings and getting together with our mentors Cass and Taylor. During the mentor meetings, I was able to better understand the college life and also learned more about myself. In the community meetings, we would talk about our experiences and our lives in a way that brought all of the students and mentors together to form a bond that is unbreakable. The individuals in this class made it extremely easy to transition from High School to College.
The first thing I want to talk about is the assignments that I have had in the class. During this course we are given assignments to post onto the discussion board, which I believe is excellent, because this allows you to see how the students around you approach the situation. This does not necessarily mean they look at others work in order to copy, but instead it gives students who might not be able to comprehend as easily, a chance to be given examples by their own peers. It also gives great comfort that the teacher of this course does not for little effort, but she takes the time to read over it and give her correction so that the students can apply with the future assignments to come. Our first assignment that was given to us was a mere introduction about who we were, what we do, and what our plans were for the future. This, to me, was a sign that let me know
I was surprised how many of my classes taught me these concepts; I knew those classes were setting out to teach me not only the material specific to that class, but also valuable skills that can be used in a variety of situations, but it was still surprising. While I was going through my list of classes I realized that even though some of them are unnecessary for my degree I don’t regret taking them as I learned much more than I thought. I found that most of my classes built upon the skills I had learned in previous classes, even when those classes had nothing to do with one another. I learned part of a skill in one class and the rest in a completely unrelated class later.
My initial expectations for this class were very low. I came into this class expecting another pointless gen-ed class that was in the way of classes that I wanted to take and getting my degree. I thought it would be tedious and boring, and generally a complete waste of time. However, the class was a lot more enjoyable than I anticipated. I enjoyed being able to talk about subjects I was interested and passionate about, as well as learning how to present my ideas in an engaging way. I learned a lot from this class, and I believe that it will help me a lot in my future, both in academia and in my professional career.
I consider myself an okay test taker because I usually do okay on tests. Like sometimes I would feel stressed out but other times I don't. It also depends on what kind of test it is, like if I feel like that test is important then I would stress out. For example if it was a math or bio test I would stress out and I would try to study during testing days. I would try to get enough sleep the night before and I would have a healthy breakfast in the morning. I probably wasn't like this all the time and I just started to realize that I should start to study if I wanted to get good grades. So I started to study and I got better results on quizzes and tests. Sometimes I wouldn't study because I have other things to do and then I forget or I don't
What have you learned in this course that has impacted or will impact your teaching?
The experiences that I have had throughout the class have definitely helped me to grow as a person and shape my perspective effectively. There were tough moments during the GRC and even with class discussions. There was a lot to learn. Speaking of the Chilean mining rescue (Chilean mining rescue, 2012) was always an aspect of a course that gave me a good example of how to manage diversity in groups.
Although the only option for succeeding on an unprepared for test may seem like cheating, the reality is that cheating is never worth it. Oftentimes, students tend to take the easy way out, and during test days this “easy way out” is obvious. Naturally, every student wants to succeed, yet succeeding in school means studying. Studying means making the decision to stay at home, looking over a history textbook, instead of going out to eat with friends. Studying means coming home from a long day of school, with afternoon football practice, and still finding the motivation to study. Nearly all
