Throughout, history mankind has been fascinated with robots and cars that could work without humans. Advanced technology is getting closer to making these futuristic ideas the real thing. In about a decade, self driving cars have transformed from a distant, futuristic dream to a close certainty. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, autonomous driving will be here within two or three years. Self-driving cars are very useful in many ways. For example, self-driving cars can prevent crashes because most crashes are because of human error, and there are no ways for a self- driving car can get “distracted”. However, self-driving cars have some limitations to what they can do, and makers can access to these situations quite easily.

Self-driving cars will make travel more convenient and potentially safer. The more self-driving vehicles are on the road, the fewer accidents there should be (as long as their driving and safety systems are working properly) since there will be less room for human error. Of course, there is a lot that can go wrong, especially in a situation where for example there is such bad weather that the sensors cannot detect the road and obstacles properly, or a system fails for any reason that will cause the vehicle to stop working properly and potentially crash or cause a crash. These issues are most likely why we haven’t started seeing these vehicles on the road yet since they still need to work on making these systems prevent any issues that can cause system failure and accidents. But once these issues are solved, there isn’t much reason not to use a self-driving car, since they will probably be safer than a human-operated car, and they will be convenient if you need to do something while you drive

I think self-driving cars are a great idea! Why would you want to spend money on risking getting in a car crash when something could drive you? The only reason why The Google Car got into a crash is because it activated its breaks and got rear-ended by another car. The Google company can work on color and shape censers to detect stop signs. Or ad a microchip to every stop sign that could use GPS and a compass to signal when to stop.

Google has announced that their self-driving cars will be on the road in two to five years. The company hopes that they will in America by 2020 but even if they are not people wonder if they will be safe and if we are ready to share the road with these vehicles. I believe that we will be ready for self-driving cars on the roads because we already have vehicles with system to prevent collisions such as early warnings and automatic lane changing from tesla motors. How could car possibly drive itself? It is miraculous to think that in the next five to ten years car will be completely autonomous. It is incredible to see how far along technology has come in the past few years. It has become a quite controversial subject of whether or not people actually like the idea of an autonomous car. Driving cars work in a very complex way, there are still many limitations, and the new technology is being put to use in the world today. A self driving car is able to sense the environment and navigate without human input. Each vehicle is outfitted with a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and a lot of sensors including laser rangefinders. There are also highly advanced computer vision systems that make it work. One of the things used is what is called Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) which is a rotating laser that is mounted on the roof of the car that continually scans the environment around the car. All these things are used to build a 3D picture of the environment around the vehicle. The vehicle uses the positional information from the G PS to position itself and the sensor data to refine its position. It also builds a three-dimensional image of the environment.
