Internship is a six to eight weeks working experience in any organization. The purpose behind doing an internship is to get familiar with a professional working environment. Often students do internships during there vacations so as to gain experience in their field of interest. Students studying engineering, computer science, textiles or business management; they are required to perform at least an internship so as to receive degree from their respective institutions. The purpose of writing this essay is to share my wonderful working experience as an internee at Spyglass Winery. I loved every minute of it as I discovered several new skills and came across with some interesting job opportunities. My degree path has prepared me for this internship. As a business marketing major I have knowledge of many key business concepts as they have been taught to me by one of the top universities in the country.

At one time JCPenney was considered the pentacle of discount shopping and was consistently growing. A heavy recession in 1974 was the first major obstacle for JCPenney and from there on forward it seemed difficult for the retailer to make progress in the magnitude it had the previous years; however the retailer continued to make profits. In 1998 JCPenney introduced its online catalog service; in the beginnings JCPenney’s catalog was strictly paper and a major player in its business strategy and profits. The introduction of the online shopping proved extremely beneficial for the company due to the online boom of the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

At this internship I have been able to apply my scholarly knowledge to my working experience. The main classes that have helped me in this work experience is Career in Professional Development I & II, Business Ethnics, Management of Organizations, Principles of Marketing, Financial Accounting, and Managerial Accounting.

I had an internship in State Farm Simon Office (an insurance agency) within the Curricular Practical Training portion of my studies since Oct 2014. State Farm is a well-known national brand, which offers automobile/boat/motorcycle insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, business insurance and a number of other insurance lines. Our office is an independent agency for State Farm, which serves individuals, families and businesses in the Philadelphia suburbs and, more commonly, across state lines into Delaware and New Jersey. My position in the office is Marketing Assistant. I worked with the agent to plan and execute marketing strategies, to create marketing targets, to allocate marketing resources among different channels and to oversee and measure the success of marketing efforts.

During my Internship, I was working in the IT Security Risk and Compliance department, also known as ITSRC. The global head of this department is Brian Silver and the vice president is Lee Hindley. The company I think that has been successful at transforming its business practices related to supply chain management is Walmart. In 1962, the first Walmart was open, so was Target and Kmart. Sam Walton was the founder of Walmart. Mr. Walton was known for his ways of being cheap in business and in his personal life. Walmart was mainly a success because of Mr. Walton’s wanted to keep costs low and then use the cost advantage to lower down prices even more than they were. After he did this he could then turn around and increase his volume in a product. It went round and round and now, Walmart stands as one of the largest retail stores globally. All persons who did internship this summer in Combustion Associate Inc. must be organized and able to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced entrepreneurial agency environment with minimal supervision. I assisted in business development activities, data analytics, market research, and other research-related tasks. I was able to interact with all levels of clients and staff with professionalism and diplomacy. This internship experience was a great opportunity for future growth! As a MBA student, obtaining hands-on experience in a professional work environment which is related in my interest area is extremely important. By doing an intern in summer quarter, I can develop my employability skill and transferable skills. Wal-Mart is very famous for its low price, which may be brought about by the low cost strategy by making the logistics cost always low. The Recent acrimonious debate has focused on the argument of whether logistics and marketing is friend. Marketing is defined as the management processes of individuals and groups create the demand and meet the demand. (Kotler et al. 2013). Converse (1954) made a speech at twenty-sixth Boston Conference on distribution. In contrast, marketing is meet customers’ need in order to maximize profits. As a result, supply chain and marketing work independent, both of them are enemies. However, logistic has a direct and positive decisive influence on the marking in terms of product value, marketing mix and customer service.
