National terrorism has been the focus of attention since September 11. But now domestic terrorism is becoming increasingly common among hate groups across the nation. Domestic terrorism can be defined as visible crime, or “street crime.” These acts would consist of violent crimes, (acts against people in which injury or death results) property crimes (acts that threaten property held by individuals or the state) and public order crimes. Cities and nations have been threatened and brought down, leaders killed by groups and organizations committing this in defending in what they believe to be a greater good. Political violence, bombing, massacres of civilians, torture of governments can all be acts of terrorism. Terrorism can be defined as a motivated violence involving political reasons and has the ability to target an audience (Martin PG 5). Terrorism in the modern era can be viewed as conflict between adversaries, one side wager war on terrorism while the other side is viewed as a holy war. Pg. 5

The use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims is what we define as an act of terrorism, although technically there are 100 other different ways to define terrorism. When you hear the word terrorism in the United States, majority will automatically think of 9/11 or Osama Bin Laden. A lot automatically think of these two topics because they are not aware that terrorism occurs all over the world and not just in the United States. Overall, terrorism comes with a lot of concerns and information many need to know about.

Terrorism is globally becoming a household word as there is no nation that is completely absolved from its effect. Globalization has significantly influenced the spate of terrorism as the event in one part of the globe has direct or an indirect effect on others. This explains why Horne (2002) in Rourke (2008) observes that war, terrorism and other forms of transnational political violence are in many ways more threatening today than ever before as civilian casualty has been on increase.
