Introduction:

A neurotransmitter is a chemical substance and it is released by the axon terminals on the arrival of nerve impulses. These neurotransmitters are stored in synaptic vesicles. These vesicles then fuse with the sending membrane which results in the release of neurotransmitter into the synaptic cleft.
