Frequencies and Probabilities of letter Occurrence The percentages shown in Exercise 33 are based on a very large sampling of English language text. Since they are based on experiment, they are "empirical" rather than "theoretical." By converting each percent in that table to a decimal fraction, you can produce an empirical probability distribution.
