Electron transport chain is a series of electron carriers that are responsible for transferring electrons to the carrier of next-higher reduction potential in a sequential manner. It is constituted of protein complexes and cofactors. The protein complexes are known as oxidoreductases that include cytochromes and noncytochrome proteins.
