The reactive nature of an element basically depends on the atomic radius, shielding and availability of the valence electrons.
Alkali metals are the most reactive metal because these have large atomic radius and very low ionization energy. So, they donate their outermost electron very easily and form unipositive ion. All these characteristics are associated with large atomic radius and weak metallic bonding. They also have a low melting and boiling point and are less dense than most elements.
