Concept explainers
Interpretation:
Each of the given numbers is to be expressed in scientific notation.
Concept Introduction:
Scientific notation is a scientific way of writing very large or small numbers.
It consists of two parts, a decimal and an exponential which is written as a decimal part multiplied by an exponential part.
The decimal part is a number between1 to 10.
An exponential part is an exponent raised to a power
. It can be positive or negative.
A large number is converted to scientific notation by moving the decimal point to the left, until a number between 1 to 10 is obtained. This decimal number is
Then, the exponent
When moved to left, the exponent is a positive value.
