Concept explainers
Decoding (S). A friend with lousy handwriting writes down a UPC. Unfortunately, you can’ tell his 4’s from his 9’s or his l’s from his is. If the code looks like 9 0 3 0 6 8 8 2 3 5 1 7, is there any way to deal with the ambiguity? If so, what is the actual UPC? If it is not possible to determine the correct UPC, explain why.
