Bank reconciliation is the process through which the difference between the two, the bank’s accounting records and the company’s accounting records can be easily ascertained. The records of both the accounts often disagree because the transactions are not recorded at the same time. Therefore, to ensure that the company’s accounting records are consistent with the bank’s accounting records, any differences must be “reconciled.”
