Introduction:

The first step in multiplication cycle of a bacteriophage is adsorption using specific receptors on the bacterial surface. Next, the nucleic acids are inserted inside through a rigid tube of the phage that enters through the bacterial membrane. The empty capsid remains outside the bacterial cell. The viral nucleic acids prepare the host cell for viral replication and synthesis of viral proteins, consequently lead to assembly of new bacteriophage particles. Mostly, the host cell undergoes lysis to release hundreds of virions.
