Chapter 9.14, Problem 1CR
Summary Introduction

The entire set of nucleic acid sequence for human is called as the human genome. It is encoded by the DNA inside the chromosome 23 pairs in the nucleic acid. The genome of human includes both the noncoding DNA and protein-coding DNA genes. The goal of human genome project is determining the nucleotide sequence base pairs which make up the DNA of human. It is also involved in mapping and identifying complete genes of the human genome from both a functional and physical standpoint.

Students have asked these similar questions
What percentage of the human genome is nowpredicted to have functionality in at least one cell type?
Not long ago investigators were surprised to learn that more than 95% of a mammalian genome is transcribed, even though less than 2% encodes proteins. What kind of evidence could be used to determine the percentage of the genome that is transcribed?
All the cells of one organism share the same genome. However, during development, some cells develop into skin cells while others develop into muscle cells. Briefly explain how the same genetic instructions can result in two different cell types in the same organism.
