Being a parent transformed me in unexpected ways. I found myself wanting to provide for my daughter and later my son the same security and benefits my parents had provided for me. I found a job at University Children’s Center. UCC provides care for children from the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years and I wanted to be close to my children. I worked with all the age groups but found my niche in the infant program. I enjoyed the close bonds I was able to form with both the babies and their families. After having children we realize that education is significant in order to succeed. While working takes a lot of time away from family, adding school to your schedule makes it difficult to spend quality time with your children. The problem most people face with balancing school, work, and family is being an excellent student, an outstanding employee, and a caring parent all in the same day.

The human resource department at Lightening University found that the leading cause of employee absences was related to unreliable childcare. Given the rural location of the college there are limited child care resources in the area. The purpose of this report is to find a solution to the employee absences related child care.
When it comes to parenting, it seems that all is lost due to the immense amount of stress created from children. Luckily jobs are in place so to help the average citizen with their everyday child needs. Some are big and some are small, but all are important such as the few like Family Advocates and Recreation Supervisors. Organisations have sought out to have a more diverse workforce, as it is claimed to increase organisational effectiveness. A team with individuals from different social group, personalities, values and beliefs, and etcetera, when managed well, can be an asset to the organisation. More often than not, there will be some sort of discrimination in the workplace, especially with a very diverse workforce. Therefore, with proper training and benefits to ensure the development of these employees, and legislation and policy to ensure equality and reduce discrimination within the workforce, it can drive competitive advantage and organisational profit. One day before my maternity leave, I thought of how I was going to cope with the forth coming baby and also able to manage my family & career effectively. I consulted with my sister and some other mothers who are all managing both their career and motherhood. The benefits of me being a working mom, it’s was satisfying to know that my children loved me and my boss happy with me. Even though I cherished my family, I started to appreciate that the world didn’t revolve around them. Career-wise I was able to stay in the loop, stay connected with what was going on in the world. Also found satisfaction being able to get intellectual stimulation from co-workers and work projects. Even though I love my kids to bits, they can’t understand the stresses of the world. My children never understood that me working benefits us with a second income coming in, but they get to enjoy the perks of it. I found that my children learned and developed earlier and faster than being at home with me. With both my husband and I working, I found it was easier to stay in sync. He understood how hard I worked all day. He never believed that I should be the only one on kids duty after a hard day of work. When I was on the home front he never took me for granted. It took less effort to keep the spark a live in our marriage.
