Steven Zhang - Valerie Vivero September 9, 2015 Chemistry - Marturano Mobius Strip Lab Prediction A: What do you think will happen if you put your pencil on the strip and draw a straight line down the center until you cannot do so any longer? What is your prediction? If a straight line was drawn down the center of the Mobius Strip, then the line will eventually line up together on the other side because going down the paper is similar to making a circle-like turn around the strip. Result: The line drawn eventually connected with each other. My prediction was correct in the fact that the line will eventually connect together on the other side. Prediction B: What do you think will happen if you cut along the line you made earlier? …show more content…
I was incorrect about my prediction on cutting along the line to form two papers. Only a single longer and thinner strip was created. If a hypothesis is verified using experimentation then what might be the next step in the scientific method? The next step in the scientific method could be to take the data founded to create a conclusion. If a hypothesis is not correct (invalid), what should happen next according to scientific method? According to the scientific method, I should create a new experiment by making another hypothesis. If either of your hypothesis were invalid, create new ones below? If the mobius strip were to be cut along the line drawn, then the paper should create a longer and thinner mobius strip because there will be no instance of the paper being cut to the outside. Lee believes that one experiment was performed in this lab. Sam believes it was more than one. Defend Lee’s and Sam’s opinion and explain how you reached your …show more content…
Write theories for each of your experiments performed here. They may not be the same as anyone else! A line drawn down the mobius strip at the center will eventually meet up at the other side. A cut made down the center of the mobius strip will create a longer and thinner paper. Using your textbook as a reference, write down the steps of the scientific method in the correct order. Observation, Hypothesis, Experiments, Conclusion, Theory, Experiments, Theory or Scientific law Suppose you were using a portable CD player and your favorite audio CD produced an “ERROR” code when you tried to listen to it. Create a single hypothesis and provide a step-by-step procedure for testing the hypothesis. If the audio CD produced an “ERROR” code when you tried to listen to it then it must be caused by a scratch in the CD because a scratch in the CD would allow the audio data to be lost. Take your microscopic lenses to examine any scratches on the CD. Carefully mark the other side of the disk with a color indicator to determine the place of the scratch. Place the CD into the CD player to play. When the “ERROR” code is produced, immediately press

There are four main characteristics of the scientific method: observation/measurements, make an assumption, test the assumption, and revise the assumption. The first stage we make an observations. For instance, I notice that my peppers in my garden are not growing well. I am going to assume this is because I did not water that area well enough. So I am now going to test my assumption. This is done by watering the peppers in my garden more frequently. Lastly, I am going to see if my assumption was correct. If my peppers only needed more water, they will begin to grow more rapidly. It is also possible that my assumption was wrong, and that my peppers were getting enough water; however, there could be something wrong with the soil, temperature, etc. These are the four main characteristics of the scientific method; it is important to note that our assumptions sometimes be wrong, thus it is always important that we test our assumptions to make sure we are correct.
each ObScertainer. I formed a hypothesis for each one, then I took retests to make more
The scientific method is a process that is used to answer questions and solve problems. Although there are different variations of the scientific method, it contains 5 basic steps. (1) Recognize a question or an unexplained occurrence in the natural world. Once this question has been developed examine scientific literature to determine what is already known about the subject matter. (2) Develop a hypothesis. A hypothesis is
The scientific method is used during experiments to find a conclusion and or reason as to why an event or something happens.
4) This line is much like a line on a geologic topo map. Explain the similarity.
Although, the actual creators of the lines and to what specific reason why they were created remains unknown, the main
A) scientific process: The scientific process, also known as the scientific method is an organized way to help answer a question or to a hypothesis. The method includes six steps; make a conclusion, form a question, construct a hypothesis, test the hypothesis, analyze the data, and finally draw a conclusion, these steps can be modified once the process has been run through at least once for the same experiment.

The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non-arbitrary representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then, through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This
Dating back to the 17th century, the scientific method is a systematic way to research a question or problem. It first starts with asking the question you are interested, including the "how, what, when, where, why, who", etc. The next step is to do more research to learn the background of what you are inquiring. After that, you create a hypothesis or educated guess to predict an outcome to the question you are testing. It should be easy to measure. Next, you test the hypothesis in a fair and unbiased experiment while changing factors that affect your guessed outcome. This should be done multiple times to prove it is not just a random chance. After this, you analyze the data and draw a conclusion based on your findings. This is where you check
One known research method is the Scientific Method which is a uniform way of creating observations, assembly data, establishing concepts, testing predictions, and understanding outcomes. These observations are made in order to observe and define behaviors. The first step to take in using a scientific method is to develop an issue or question. Next step is to perform a research and observation on the issue or question that was developed. Then a hypothesis needs to be formulated after these steps have been made.
3) Explain the so-called ‘Divided Line’. What do the different levels mean? How does this apply to
No matter how far up or down they move (still touching the small circle) the line it is going to cut the small circle two times. If they would have said “At first the line cuts both circles in two places, but as move the line up or down and the farther away you get from the small circle, the line will touch the bigger circle (still twice!), but not touch the little circle at all.” Then they would have also been correct. Looking at this circle below I have shown you how it makes two cuts on each circle, expect when the line is not even touching the small
One can interpret these lines as indicating the direction that a compass needle will point if placed at that position.
