When making an analysis on why more companies are going green and to what are the benefits, the first argument that comes to mind are the government requirements that are now being required. Corporations are made to pass certain certifications to ensure that they are being environmentally responsible. A key industry that has been hit hard by such requirements is the automotive industry. The government in an effort to reduce the exhaust and evaporative gases that automobiles emit, have handed down regulations that must be implemented within a certain time frame. One program that the government came out with is called Light-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards Program. This program gave new standards for vehicles that are manufactured …show more content…
This program sets new emissions standards that go into effect in the year 2017. This program further reduces the amount of emissions and sulfur content in gasoline than the previous program. The government also instituted a voluntary program called The National Low Emission Vehicle Program which shows how cooperative companies are in these environmental programs. This is evident in some new vehicles which carry a LEV sticker or badge on it to show that this vehicle is environmentally friendly. CAP 2000 is compliance Assurance Program that lays down procedures for testing emissions durability. Consumers have also become more environmentally aware and have shown to give preference to those companies that show to care about the environment. In this day and age people have become the reason that the government has forced companies to acquire a green finger. No matter how a company sees it, there’s only a matter of time until all companies are forced to be green. One big advantage of going green is that you can experience a lot of savings as an organization. While the perception is that going green will cost more, actually it reduces cost by using less material or by recycling
Forensic psychology has made unique contributions to risk assessment with respect to the potential for violence and dangerousness, the accuracy of eye witness testimony, the dimensions and assessment of legal competency
Before I came to the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science, my world was small. I had never been exposed to the multiple STEM opportunities such as science fair, research, or university professors. I realized how fortunate I was to have such resources, and want to expose more young students to them. There are many underprivileged students in Denton ISD who don’t have access to STEM programs. I helped bridge this gap of educational opportunity by becoming a mentor for Aspire Mentorship, a program that promotes research among younger students to inspire them in the STEM fields. I mentored two middle school girls, a 7th and an 8th grader, through a research project from brainstorming ideas to conducting data analysis to their final presentation at the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Recently, UK visa system saw a revoking of Tier 4 visas with a subsequent deportation of 48, 000 international students. This was done in light of a documentary featured on a reputed News Channel on linguistic qualifying test for visa application. The test in question was the TOEIC or Test of English for International Communication. The documentary telecast was followed up by the UK immigration authorities and the investigation resulted in withdrawal of Tier 4 sponsorship licences of many UK schools and universities (Approx. 60).
Chapter education and programming is centered on our Pillars of Education, which will encourage members to successfully achieve the standards of the Five Star Program and provide the foundation for our chapter to make a positive contribution on the campus and local community. Our success in the Five Star Program starts with our support structure of trained specialists, new chapter support team, Coordinator of Chapter Development and chapter consultants. These individuals are familiar with the needs of a new chapter as well as how to build a strong infrastructure for lasting success. In the chapter’s infancy, we expect chapter consultants to play a large role in helping the chapter successfully complete the Five Star Program. As the chapter
I believe that the MYEP program could be the start of my future. I really haven't gotten many opportunities to do something that would help with my career choice. I believe this could help me in the long run after school is over for when I get my career thanks to this program hopefully choosing me to get a chance for the internship. I’ve already received the certificate for coming on December 1st, but I want to go further than that. I’ve already been informed on how to apply for a job, get that job, and then keep that job. After learning these things I’d like to practice those skills with this program. I want this internship so I know what my future will be when I go to college and I will know what I'm doing. Me being there will not be a burden.
The purpose of our evaluation is to assess if the girls who participate in the GRL program, apply the skills and knowledge they acquire upon completion of the program. To answer this question, we will use a pre-experimental research design consisting of pre-test and post-test surveys, as well as a post-test focus group for more in depth narratives. The purpose of the pre-test and the post-test is to ascertain the types of behaviors and habits the girls have prior to their participation in the GRL program and see how these change after the 16-week program.
Therefore, it is unethical for businesses to refuse this opportunity. An article titled “Large And Dirty' Companies Adopting Greener Strategies To Earn More Green”, published by ScienceDaily, offers a look at a development in corporate policies. In the article, a professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Baltimore named Phillip H. Phan presents a new trend in business strategies. When referring to formerly wasteful companies, Phan states, “Now they view concern for the environment as an opportunity to embed innovations that save production costs in the long term and that also improve their standing as good corporate citizens in the public mind” (qtd. in “Large And Dirty'” 1). Phan is insisting that many companies are now adopting environmentally friendly policies. Most see these strategies as an advantage in the end. In turn, the economy continues to grow while corporations maintain conservation. The question remains, why implement environmental regulations? As the evidence has shown, more businesses have begun to use environmentally friendly policies. While this is a positive change, other companies have yet to embrace these strategies. For this reason, the point is not to drive a stake between conservation and business but to find mutual benefits. Above all, governments must set better standards based on the
The government of the United Kingdom has recently introduced changes to its immigration policies. Almost every visa category has been tweaked, amongst which is the Tier 2 (General) visa.
This could be for the inclusion of more cars that not get it energy from fossil fuels, such as electric and solar energy. But, this implementation doesn't get to US in; meaning that the pollution is bigger here. But according to the article “The End of Car Culture” by Elisabeth Rosenthal says“President Obama’s ambitious goals to curb the United States’ greenhouse gas emissions, unveiled last week, will get a fortuitous assist from an incipient shift in American behavior: recent studies suggest that Americans are buying fewer cars, driving less and getting fewer licenses as each year goes by.” Meaning that there also are shifting to use cars less time changing their habits of mass driving and using other methods of transportation such as bicycles, busses, and taxis companies. In her article, Rosenthal explain that some sociologists believe that this shift will be beneficial for the environment
In conclusion, going green is what's best for America and its citizens. Not only does it help companies reuse and save money but it also helps the environment. Yea the rules may be a little strict but that's what happens when people don't care about what they throw away. If going green will improve the budget then people must be informed about the benifits that come with going
In order to save the environment from pollution, businesses should consider having an environmentally-friendly operation. Protecting the environment is a key factor in going green that is beneficial to businesses and the environment. This topic is discussed in Ava Mohsenin’s article, “Can Businesses Be Environmentally Sustainable And Still Make Money?” Businesses stepping forward to lead a change in sustainability signifies there is profit and other benefits to being environmentally friendly. Additionally, Dupont is committed to “65% reduction and was saving $2.2B a year” through energy efficiency (Mohsenin). Kate L. Harrison, a communications marketing expert, explains in the article “10 Ways to Green Your Business and Save Money” that although some methods will not show profit immediately, business owners that use public transportation or have a fleet of hybrid vehicles can see an increase in profits over time. Furthermore, Mohsenin suggests that companies give their employees Prius’ in order to save money on gas and not pollute the air as much, similar to a brewing company that follows these
First off I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to take a advanced placement course. I want to take this course so I can challenge myself to the maximum extent. I want to show other kids in my health situation that you can do more than expected no matter your circumstances. I believe that this is great way to strengthen my mind and mentally prepare for college courses. If I am able to pass this course I will be able to show to myself ,my parents, and everyone who doubted me you can do anything that you put your mind and effort to all your hard work will pay off in time. Growing up as a teen with sickle cell it as tough always missing school, missing out on social activities, and always playing the “game” of catch up.When coming

According to the Environmental Protection article at www.eponline.com, it states that the environmental issues top the list of challenges in the automotive industry, outranking the cost reduction for the first time in 14 years. The survey was conducted by DuPont and the Society of the Automotive Industry. The survey results included the following results and statistics:
In 1909 S.P.L. Sorensen published a paper in Biochem Z in which he discussed the effect of H1+ ions on the activity of enzymes. In the paper he invented the term pH to describe this effect and defined it as the -log[H1+ ]. In 1924 Sorensen realized that the pH of a solution is a function of the "activity" of the H1+ ion not the concentration and published a second paper on the subject. A better definition would be pH=-log[aH1+ ], where aH1+ denotes the activity of the H1+ ion. The activity of an ion is a function of many variables of which concentration is one. It is unfortunate that chemistry texts use a definition for pH that has been obsolete for over 50 years.
