Trumbull Stickney

An old light smolders in her eye
There! she looks up. They grow and glow
Like mad laughs or a rhapsody
That flickers out in woe.

Indolent as a warm rain.

Laughs like beech-leaves ringing in the light.

Crimson smile,
Like seas hid by a meadow-land.

Smooth as the liquid passage of a bird.

Yearning, like a swallow in the void.
