Concept explainers
In the traditional coordinate dimensioning system, which of the following is true? (Select one.)
- i. Only “features of size” need to include a tolerance.
- ii. Only dimensions that are important need to include a tolerance.
- iii. Only dimensions that need to be tightly controlled need to include a tolerance.
- iv. iv. All dimensions should include a tolerance.
The validation of the statement in the traditional co-ordinate dimensioning system.
Explanation of Solution
The traditional way of coordinate measurement includes the tolerance of all the dimensions. The tolerance is indicated by either plus or minus sign with the basic size in a defined form. However, the traditional way of coordinate measurement system lacks in defining all the geometric attributes of a feature such as orientation and form. But the statement i, ii, and iii specify the tolerance for the particular cases. Thus, the traditional coordinate measurement system includes the tolerance to all the dimensions which it defines.

Nonearrow_forwardIn the context of our teaching and learning, which one of the below statements is mostly correct about in the creation of detailed design of a component? In deciding the tolerance, the guidance is the tighter the better. I am the designer, so I decide the required tolerance as l like. The tolerance is determined by the function. The chance to manufacture component to the exact size is like to win a lottery. I would enjoy winning a lottery, so I should specify all the dimensions as exact, no tolerance to be considered at all.arrow_forward5. R16 O 16, 2 Holes The letter 'M' means that the threads are made by following a metric thread system. The number "10" Is the major dlameter of the hole and the number 1.5 is the pitch of a thread. However, for coarse threads, it is a common practice to omit specifying the pitches. For example, a note M10 means the pitches of the thread is 1.5 mm. In this book, the pitch is specified in order to facilitate drafting. 2.
