The ova from the ovary is passed down to the fallopian tube, which is also known as the uterine tube. In the fallopian tube, the ova receives the sperm, which is present in the semen. The semen is released into the vagina from the male partner, and travels in this tube.
Here, in the fallopian tube one of the sperm enters into the ova and the nucleus of the sperm fuses with the nucleus of the ova. The fusion of the sperm and the ova is termed as the fertilization. After the fertilization, the formation of the zygote, which divide mitotically and passed down towards the uterus for the implantation.
