The material often used to manufacture electric strip heater coils is ____.
The material which is used for the manufacturing of electric strip heater coils.
Answer to Problem 1RQ
The material which is used for the manufacturing of electric strip heater coils is Nichrome.
Explanation of Solution
An electric heater is a heat producing device. In an electric heater there is a conversion of electric energy into the heat energy. Heat is being produced by the resistance of the material which is connected in an electric circuit. The materials being used in an electric heater should have high electric resistance and must be a good conductor of heat and electricity. It should also possess a high melting point. Since the heat is produced at an elevated temperature in the heating element. Hence it should have a property to withstand at such high temperature. Generally, a nichrome wire is used in an electric heater for the purpose of heating. Nichrome is an alloy of Nickel and Chromium. It also possesses good mechanical strength. Therefore, it is better option for using it in an electric heater.
Conclusion:
Nichrome is used to manufacture electric strip heater coils due to its good properties which are desired for the perfect heating coils.
