Norms are behaviors or expectations that reflect a group’s values. Values are a group’s idea of what is desirable or undesirable, acceptable or unacceptable, good or bad.
Explanation of Solution
The Pokot wives and husbands have norms that are different from U.S. norms. In the United States, norms might not include abuse by a woman and her female friends if adultery is suspected on the part of the man. The Pokot norm of urinating on a spouse suspected of adultery might not be a standard form of punishment in the United States. People in the United States may not generally slaughter an animal to show contempt of a spouse. If adultery occurs, U.S. norms might more likely include marriage counseling, a separation, or divorce.
