Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Fungi are heterotrophic, nonphotosynthetic thalloid multicellular organisms. Some forms like yeast are unicellular. The cell wall of fungi is made up of chitin, which is a nitrogen-containing polysaccharide. The life cycle of fungi exists between haploid and diploid phase. Fungi possess thread like structure called hyphae and group of hyphae is called mycelium. They are divided into four major groups: Chytridiomycota, Zygomycota, Ascomycota, and Basidiomycota.
